Web Design – Content Writing Tips

Web Design – Content Writing Tips

Content! That is why people visit your web site. Give your potential customers the information they want and need. Here are four quick and easy tips to get you started, or to review your existing web site pages.

1. Engage your readers immediately:

Your home page should establish, right away, who you are, what business you are in, what products or services you provide, and what sets you apart from your competitors. Anyone should be able to glance at your home page and understand all of these things right away. There should be no question as to what you do and the benefit you provide.

2. Simplify your text and write for your audience.

Every business uses their own terminology and jargon. Jargon doesn’t help anyone. As yourself can people understand your text? Think about your audience and reword those confusing sentences.

3. Don’t overdo it:

People don’t have all day. Put key information in succinct paragraphs on the page. Waffling is not for the web.

4. Page Objectives:

When writing content, make a mental note of what your goal is for the page (e.g. encourage clients to call you) and try to guess what the users’ goal is (e.g. to get more relevant information.) Match the two (e.g. “To find out more simply call us on……”) and you’re set, with a positive call to action.

4 Web Design Tips

4 Web Design Tips

When it comes to website design and online marketing it requires diligent efforts, as well as effective strategies, to make it successful. Having fully optimised landing pages ensures that users clicking on advertisements are directed to relevant information and encourages them to go through the page. Below are four tips for creating landing website pages that help in improving the conversion rate.

1. Optimising Website Design Layout

According to some research, there is an actual science and method to measure users’ online behaviour and what their brains and eyes focus on when seeing the page. This is to say that it deals with how a web user is first drawn to look at the top left of the page and then their eyes follow a diagonal line across the centre to the bottom right of the page.

It is therefore very important to keep the company’s logo and other vital messages in a prime location. This ensures that readers get the right information in the best order possible. In fact, the design should be such that it provides user-friendly landing pages.

Make sure that the colour of all your landing pages matches with the overall look and theme of your website. This will ensure that the user feels a natural progression and gets acquainted with your brand’s value when they move between your landing pages and your site’s home page.

2. Ensure Website Text Copy Has Search Engines in Mind

Having a good website text copy can be quite beneficial from a search engine marketing perspective. In fact, if you have a copy that is related to keywords and ad copy that you show on your ads, you will have to pay less for paid search ads. A good copy is also important as it helps in giving the user a positive user experience. Moreover, it is one of the key factors that Google uses in its algorithm in order to rank websites in its results.

What web users want is to be guided on what to do and where to go. When a visitor lands on a website, the very first thought that crosses one’s mind is, “What does it have for me?” Now if you have a copy that eliminates all possibility of users to guess, it will make your customers really happy and they are more likely to click on ‘buy’ or ‘contact us.’

3. Use Images and Video On Your Website

Images and videos play an important role as they help to increase user engagement. They also help in creating a connection with users. However, this

Make sure that you do not end up cluttering your landing page with too many images and videos. Your strategy should be to make videos and images a part of your landing page and not the focal point of the page.

It can also be important to have a variety of product images. Posting ‘How To’ videos can be of great help. It helps in increasing the user engagement.

4. Highlight Your Call to Action

A “call to action” refers to active text that compels a user to take action.

It’s important to recognise that most users visit a web site with a specific purpose in mind. Successful web sites have an unmistakable call to action that leaves no doubt about what users should do within the site.

So don’t make your customer think about what to do next. Your text should TELL THEM! Your call to action should be very clear.

Here are a few examples of common and effective “call to action” phrases.

1) Call now!

2) Using your credit card? Click the “Buy It Now!” button to purchase this product.

3) For a short time only.

4) Act now – offer expires December 31st.

5) Joining our newsletter NOW for FREE tips. Click here!

You should encourage people to visit your site and take the desired call to action. Every page of your web site should have some form or call to action. It does not need to be the same for each page. Instead, you can use smaller actions that lead the user towards your ultimate goal.

Your goal is to convert visitors into buyers, not browsers.
